Career
He was educated in Leyden and the Inner Temple. In 1659 he was elected Member of Parliament for Honiton, Devon, and in 1660 for Lyme Regis, Dorset, in the Convention Parliament.[ He inherited the baronetcy on the death of his father in 1663. He purchased the manor of Mohuns Ottery intending to move there from Colyton, but died before his planned new mansion house there was completed.
