Banana Division was created on 11 November 1879 as one of 74 divisions around Queensland under the ''Divisional Boards Act 1879''. On 20 April 1881 part of Banana Division was separated to create

. On 4 January 1884, there was an adjustment of boundaries between

's subdivisions Nos. 2 and 3 and the Duaringa Division.
