At the end of the 2011–12 season, Dann made a total of 28 appearances in all competitions and also suffered relegation for the third time in his career as Rovers finished in 19th place in the Premier League. On 12 March 2013, Dann was officially confirmed as captain of the club, succeeding Danny Murphy.
