Taxonomy

''Sarcohyla'' was erected in 2016 based on molecular data. It contains species that were allocated to "'' Hyla bistincta''" and "'' Hyla arborescandens'' groups" by Duellman in 2001 and to "''Plectrohyla bistincta'' group" in some later works. Its
