At the most recent census of 2016, the population of the rural district was 3,252 in 890 households. The largest of its 53 villages was Sar Asiab-e Yusefi (now a city), with 984 people. After the census, the rural district was separated from the district in the establishment of the new Sar Asiab-e Yusefi District, which was divided into two rural districts.
