Name

Rožnik Hill was attested in written sources in 1326 as ''Rosenberch''. The Slovene name is a translation from the German name ''Rosenberg'', originally a compound of

Geography

The hill has two peaks, called Šiška Hill ( sl, Šišenski hrib, 429 m) and Cankar Peak ( sl, Cankarjev vrh, 394 m). Cankar Peak was formerly known as ''Zgornji Rožnik'' ('upper Rožnik', german: Oberrosenbach),''Leksikon občin kraljestev in dežel zastopanih v državnem zboru,'' vol. 6: ''Kranjsko''. 1906. Vienna: C.
