Personal life

Arnold is openly gay. He was married to Stephan Kirchenbauer, an artist and personal secretary to Princess Diane, Duchess of Württemberg, until Kirchenbauer's death in 2012. He and Kirchenbauer lived in Arnold's parent's house in Herdtlinsweiler. He is a practicing Christian and is fluent in German, French, English, Dutch, and Spanish. Arnold is a founding member of the Herdtlinsweiler Village Development Association and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Academy for Spoken Word in Stuttgart. A
