History

The first schools in Geelong were established when the town was settled from the 1850s. Many of these schools remain open today, now joined by a number of new schools opened from the 1950s when the population of Geelong grew after World War II. HRH King Charles III, spent two terms at the Timbertop campus of Geelong Grammar School in 1966. The late 1980s and 1990s saw changes to the school system, with new secondary colleges such as Catholic Regional College and Western Heights Secondary College were created from smaller
