History

A series of executive decrees and state laws have defined and redefined the area of the Rio Roosevelt Ecological Station. The ecological station was created by decree 1.798 of 4 November 1997 with an area of about with the purpose of conserving samples of the ecological systems in their natural state, ensuring biological diversity and providing controlled opportunities for education and scientific research. Law 7162 of 23 August 1999 created the ecological station with an area of about in the municipality of
