Early life

Dr. Rashmi Shetty was born as the first of three sisters to Mr. Sitaram Rai - an advertising pioneer, and Mrs. Arundhati Rai - an artist and homemaker. Her exposure to the world of art and aesthetics started at an early age, and led her to pursue multiple passions, primarily - Indian classical dance. She even cleared the board graduation in Indian classical dance as well as art and painting with a first class ranking. As an all rounder, she was involved in elocution and debates on behalf of her school, which cultivated her skills in public speaking. Dr. Shetty's medical journey began at the prestigious Mysore University. At a time when aesthetic dermatology wasn't an established field, her interest was sparked in plastic surgery and aesthetic surgery while she was doing a post under the prominent pioneer of plastic surgery in India - Dr. K. S. Shekhar. It was during this chapter of her life that she learnt the importance of aesthetics as an aspect beyond vanity. She was also a part of Smile Train - an initiative to operate cleft lip and palate children pro-bono. While working with burn victims and such cases of facial abnormalities, Dr. Shetty observed the power of reconstructive aesthetics in undoing emotional trauma and restoring confidence in people. Dr. Rashmi Shetty is an Indian board certified dermatologist, teacher, author, and entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience in aesthetic and clinical dermatology. After graduating with her basic medical degree from AIMS Bellur of Mysore University, she was posted in the plastic surgery department of Bangalore Hospital. Her learnings continued at Chester in the UK where she did her fellowship in aesthetics, followed by her board certification in dermatology in Mumbai.
