was Gyunggeuk (경극, 景極), and his nicknames were Seokjung (석정, 石庭) and Songjung (송정, 松亭). He was the grandson of the Heungseon Daewongun (흥선대원군), and nephew and political rival of Emperor Gojong and Empress Myeongseong.
Life
Yi Junyong was grandson of Heungseon Daewongun and son of his first son Prince Heung. His father Prince Heung and his uncle Emperor Gojong was weak, and gentle, but he was strong, and aggressive likewise, his grandfather, Heungseon Daewongun, who was also bold, and aggressive. Prince Yeongseon attempted to overthrow, and expel his uncle Emperor Gojong from the throne, but failed to do so. He was imprisoned for this incidient. This led to his later collaboration with the Japanese. On 27 November 1907, Yi was appointed as Major General of Imperial Korean Army.Family
