In 2009, Tungi was sent by the Tongan government as part of the special emissaries donating to the Samoan Government with $500,000 to the Independent State of Samoa and $100,000 to the Government of American Samoa which was struck after the devastation from the Tsunami. In 2013, Tungi was a guest of honour for The Queen's Commonwealth Trusts baton relay. He later visited the Granville Youth and Community Centre in Australia to promote Tongan cultural practices overseas whilst also supporting the Tongan community within Australia. As of 2021, Tungi resides in the United States. Recently, he visited the Polynesian Cultural Center in Hawa'ii in May 2021.
