Together with Anne Jno. Baptiste of Papillote Wilderness Retreat, the island's well-known eco-lodge and botanical gardens, Pattullo co-authored the 1998 book ''The Gardens of Dominica'', which they published themselves in 1998, leading to the establishment of Papillote Press, specialising in books about Dominica and the wider Caribbean. In an early interview, Pattullo said: "Papillote Press only exists by being an unpaid one-woman operation and making sure that each book that is published generates enough cash to print the next book." The company has since developed and broadened its remit, publishing a range of titles, both fiction and non-fiction, that reflect the culture and literary heritage of the region, and has published winners of the Burt Award for Caribbean Young Adult Literature.
