Planá (german: Plan) is a municipality and village in České Budějovice District in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 300 inhabitants.


Geography

Planá is located about southwest of České Budějovice. It lies in the České Budějovice Basin. The Vltava river forms its southern and eastern municipal borders.


History

The first written mention of Planá is from 1259. Between 1961 and 1990, it was an administrative part of Homole. Since 24 November 1990, it has been a separate municipality.

Sights

Planá is poor in monuments. The only protected cultural monument is a homestead from 1881. In the centre of Planá is the Chapel of the Holy Trinity.
