In January 2020, it was announced that construction of the Placentia Metrolink station would begin later in the year, with the station expected to be open by June 2022, but it has once again been delayed, with OCTA claiming construction of the project is "on hold". The cost of the project is due at $34.8 million, of which the city pledged $5.4 million. In 2014, the project was pegged at an estimated $23.42 million, while a 2012 estimate was between $7.5–9 million.
