It's just like ' Michelle, ma belle', wee verses that I thought sound good – the literal meaning of the words didn't have a lot to do with it. It was a whole atmosphere." He added in an interview with '' Sounds'', "If I hadn't listened to ' Subterranean Homesick Blues' I could never have written 'Perfect Skin'. I was totally drunk on obDylan at the time I wrote that song and all the imagery is deliberately Dylanesque."
