. He formerly served as member of the Folketing in 2015 to 2019. He has been described as the Danish left's unofficial chief ideologue and as the Red-Green Alliance's grey eminence. Dragsted was elected to the Frederiksberg City Council in 2021, where he served as chair of the climate and housing committee. After winning re-election to the Folketing, Dragsted stepped back from his position as councillor due to rules regarding double mandates in the Red-Green alliance. In August 2023, Dragsted was announced as the new political spokesperson of the Red-Green Alliance, succeeding Mai Villadsen.
