Born in 1779 in Lisnageeragh (Lisnageera), he matriculated in
St. Patrick's College, Maynooth

Glinsk. In 1819, in Maynooth College he was ordained as Coadjutor Bishop of Elphin. He was also appointed Titular Bishop of
Augustopolis in
