Etymology
According to the local legends the name was ''Padosfa'' ( en, tree with a bank). The scientific explanation states that it derives from the person name ''Potus'' or ''Patus''. The village was known as ''Patusfalva'' ( en, village of Patus) in the Middle Ages.
