History

It was built by the
Chemins de fer du Midi The Compagnie des chemins de fer du Midi (. CF du Midi), also known in English as the Midi or Southern Railway, was an early French railway company which operated a network of routes in the southwest of the country, chiefly in the area between i ...
on 19 October 1861 and was the terminus of the line until it was extended to
Foix Foix (; oc, Fois ; ca, Foix ) is a commune, the former capital of the County of Foix. It is the capital of the department of Ariège as it is the seat of the Préfecture of that department. Foix is located in the Occitanie region of southwe ...
on 7 April 1862. The station used to be a junction onto the now closed Pamiers–Limoux railway from November 1898 to 1939. The station gained its room in 1903 and the line was electrified in 1927.
