At the latest census in 2016, the population of the village was 1,012 in 306 households, by which time the district had separated from the county and become a part of recently established Alborz province as Eshtehard County, with two districts. It was the largest village in its rural district. After the census, the village was elevated to the status of a city and became the capital of Palangabad District.
