Taxonomy

The species was first described by the British physician and zoologist Thomas C. Jerdon in 1853 as ''Coronella taeniolata''. There are two subspecies: * ''Oligodon taeniolatus taeniolatus'' (Jerdon 1853) * ''Oligodon taeniolatus fasciatus'' (Günther 1864)
