In 2003 Al Tayer received the L'Ordre National Du Mérite by the President of the Republic of France. In 2007 he received the Ordine della Stella della Solidarieta Italiana by the President of the Republic of Italy. In 2012 he was awarded the “Finance Minister of the Year Middle East and North Africa for 2012” award by Emerging Markets Magazine.
