The median age was 38.5 years (compared with 37.4 years nationally), with 393 people (20.7%) aged under 15 years, 351 (18.5%) aged 15 to 29, 867 (45.7%) aged 30 to 64, and 291 (15.3%) aged 65 or older. Ethnicities were 89.3% European/Pākehā, 12.5% Māori, 3.8% Pacific peoples, 4.4% Asian, and 2.1% other ethnicities (totals add to more than 100% since people could identify with multiple ethnicities). Of those at least 15 years old, 210 (13.9%) people had a bachelor or higher degree, and 339 (22.5%) people had no formal qualifications. The median income was $30,300, compared with $31,800 nationally. The employment status of those at least 15 was that 777 (51.6%) people were employed full-time, 276 (18.3%) were part-time, and 42 (2.8%) were unemployed.
