. It is to be the home of Swinton RLFC. Upon completion, Swinton will return to the borough after selling off Station Road in 1992. Since 2006 a plan had been put in place to bring the Lions home and, to that end, the team did train on the site for a short time. Work has yet to be commenced, however, as the Lions lacked a financial backer and were operating at semi-pro level. However, money was raised and work was scheduled to commence in 2012. A meeting was called in early September 2012 to confirm that progress was being made on the project.
