who has made contributions to the field of neurosurgery, particularly in the modernization of neurosurgical practices. He has published over 60 research articles in the field of neurosurgery. He has been credited with laying the foundation for the Punjab Institute of Neurosciences, a neurosurgical institution in Pakistan.


Career

He is credited with having introduced the surgical treatment for cerebral arteriovenous malformations and aneurysms. He is a specialist in

for movement disorders. Currently, he is supervising studies that compare plate and screw systems with cage devices that could be used to correct spinal instability. Ahmad has developed techniques for performing neurosurgical procedures using a microscope; using a flexible tube with a camera and light on the end; using small incisions to perform surgery on the spine; and using small catheters and instruments to perform surgery on the blood vessels of the brain and spinal cord. Ahmad is also the founder of PINS (Punjab Institute of Neurosciences), a former Vice President of Asian Congress of Neurological Surgeons (ACNS), and Chief Editor of the ''Pakistan Journal of Neurological Surgery'' (PJNS).
