as the vehicle to launch the Marine Corps Association (MCA), the journal is known as "The Professional Journal of U.S. Marines". Today the MCA continues to publish the ''Gazette'' alongside '' Leatherneck Magazine''. The headquarters of the ''Gazette'' is in Quantico, Virginia.

Mission and Focus
The ''Gazette's'' mission is to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas that will advance knowledge, interest, and esprit in the Marine Corps. The ''Gazette'' is also a vehicle for the dissemination of military art and science among Marines. The focus of the journal is to invite debate from readers on the important issues facing the Marine Corps today. The ''Gazette'' is of, by, and for Marines and uses a combination of solicitation for articles, writing contests, and unsolicited manuscripts. The journal occasionally reprints articles from other professional journals.
