In the final, however, he failed to repeat the semifinal time, which would have won him the bronze medal: he finished the race in 5th place with a time of 47.93. The bronze was won by Vladislav Grinev with 47.82. In the Men's 4 × 100 metre freestyle relay and in the Men's 4 × 100 metre medley relay, he finished 6th, helping Brazil qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
