Judith L. Eger writes that the genus only consists of ''M. neglectus'' and ''M. temminckii''; ''M. aequatorianus'' (= ''Cabreramops'' ) and ''M. mattogrossensis'' (= ''Neoplatymops'' ) were incorrectly assigned to this genus.
