He was elected to parliament on 15 February 1996 from Jessore-1 as a candidate of Bangladesh Nationalist Party. He was nominated as a candidate for BNP from Jessore-1 in the 2018 national elections.

Arrests

He was arrested in Jessore Airport on 23 May 2011 after carrying a licensed but loaded gun into the airport.
