Moe Shalizi

Moe Shalizi (born April 11, 1990) is an Afghan-American talent manager, record executive, and investor. He is best known as the manager of Marshmello. Shalizi is the CEO and Founder of The Shalizi Group and Pick Six Records, and co-owner of the marshmallow brand Stuffed Puffs.

Early life and education

Shalizi was born on April 11, 1990 in Palm Springs, California and raised in Irvine, California. He attended his freshman year at Northwood High School and then relocated to Corona, California where he graduated from Santiago High School. Shalizi earned his Bachelor's degree in Finance from the University of California Riverside (UCR).

Career

Shalizi started his music industry career at the age of 21, while he was a student at the University of California, Riverside promoting and organizing a series of EDM events in Corona. This launch into the world of dance music led Shalizi to artist management.

Shalizi gained recognition as a talent manager in 2014 when his newly signed client, Jauz released his hit dance single ''Feel The Volume'' via Mad Decent record label. The following year, Shalizi joined Red Light Management.

In 2015, Shalizi and an unknown DJ and producer debuted the Marshmello persona. Four years into his career as a manager, Shalizi guided Marshmello to a career best year – the masked DJ earned over $40 million, ranking #2 among the world’s highest-paid DJs in 2019.

The Shalizi Group

In 2018, Shalizi left Red Light Management to start his own artist management company, ''The Shalizi Group''. Upon the establishment of The Shalizi Group in November 2018, Shalizi signed several artists including, Marshmello, Alesso, Jauz, Southside, and Svdden Death.

Pick Six Records

In October 2020, Shalizi established his own record label, ''Pick Six Records'', the label’s inaugural artists included Morray, Wacotron, Prop, and Kameron. In the same month, Morray released his debut single ''Quicksand'' under the label. The song peaked at number #65 on ''Billboard'' Hot 100, and at #25 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. Morray announced on April 16, 2021 that he had signed to Interscope Records in a partnership with Pick Six Records.

Investments

In 2019, Shalizi invested in the social media app Triller serves as a member of the Board of Trustees. In 2020, Shalizi invested in the American social media platform Pearpop.

Awards and recognition

In 2017, Shalizi was named to the Billboard Magazine's Dance Power Players list. In 2019, Shalizi was named to Forbes magazine's Forbes 30 Under 30 list. In 2018, Shalizi landed alongside Marshmello on the cover of Billboard’s Dance Issue.
