Minot's Ledge Light
Minot's Ledge Light, officially Minots Ledge Light, is a lighthouse on Minots Ledge, one mile offshore of the towns of Cohasset and Scituate, Massachusetts, to the southeast of Boston Harbor. It is a part of the Town of Cohassett, in Plymouth C ...
, completed in 1860 and considered one of the most significant American engineering achievements of the 19th century. It was constructed by installing pins through tons of granite blocks into the rocks beneath to form the 40-foot base of the tower.
The lighthouse is still operating. It is located within the Town of
Scituate, in
Plymouth County.
