Geography
Matlacha Isles-Matlacha Shores is located in western Lee County at (26.636214, -82.062766),
on the east side of Matlacha Pass, a tidal waterway separating
Pine Island and Little Pine Island from the mainland. The CDP is bordered to the north by the city of
Cape Coral.
Southwest Pine Island Road (County Road 78) runs through the community, leading east to

There were 159 households, out of which 5.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.8% were married couples living together, 4.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 39.6% were non-families. 34.6% of all households were made up of individuals, and 15.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 1.91 and the average family size was 2.40.
In the CDP, the population was spread out, with 6.6% under the age of 18, 2.6% from 18 to 24, 15.5% from 25 to 44, 40.1% from 45 to 64, and 35.2% who were 65 years of age or older.
