Before becoming a footballer, Acuña worked as a delivery man and musician. He played for

Death

Acuña's brother Héctor also played football professionally. Acuña died on 4 January 2025, at the age of 32. The cause of death was suicide. At the time of his death, he was being investigated for domestic abuse.
