Political career
She was a deputy to the Grand Council of Ticino from April 1991 to March 2007, before she became a National Councillor on 4 June 2007. She sat in the Science, Education and Culture Committees of the 47th Parliament, then in the Finance Committee and the Drafting Committee of the 48th Parliament. On 26 October 2011 she announced she was a candidate to the succession of Federal Councillor Micheline Calmy-Rey. However, her candidacy was not accepted in the ticket chosen by the Socialist parliamentary group. On 26 November 2018 Marina Carrobio Guscetti became the president of the Swiss National Council.
