Initially, the new ''Verbandsgemeinde'' was named "Braubach-Loreley", but it was renamed "Loreley" on 1 December 2012. The ''Verbandsgemeinde'' Loreley consists of the following ''Ortsgemeinden'' ("local municipalities"):
