. This was passed in 2019 with the completion of the Pavagada Solar Park in Karnataka, India, with a capacity of 2050 MW. The Pavagada Solar Park is also the first solar power park to cross the 2 GW mark. Bhadla Solar Park became the largest solar park in 2020 with a capacity of 2,245 MW. Spread across more than , the park is located at Bhadla village in Jodhpur district in the Indian desert state of Rajasthan. As with other forms of power generation, significant challenges exist with regard to regional habitat modification, such as that resulting from the heat island effect, and the resulting stress to local threatened species. Several planned large facilities in the U.S. state of California have been downsized due in part to such concerns.
