Subsequently, the ruling prime minister, Ghulam Mohammed Sadiq, was sworn in as the first Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. The State of Jammu and Kashmir was reorganised into a union territory on 31 October 2019. The office of Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir has been vacant since 20 June 2018.
