History

The club was first founded in 1910 as ''Ruairi Ógs'', with John Corr as the first Chairman. Mathes were played on a pitch known as "The Waterside" in Tullynure. The club officially became St. Michael's in 1962 when was affiliated to the South Derry Board, with Joseph O'Hagan as Chairman, Bernard McGready as Secretary and Paul O’Hagan as Treasurer. In 1977 the club laid a new playing field. Work on a new pavilion commenced in 1986 and was officially opened in August 1990 by GAA President-elect Peter Quinn.
