Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there were 2,033 people, 818 households, and 589 families residing in the township. The population density was 44.6 per square mile (17.2/km²). There were 1,550 housing units at an average density of 34.0 per square mile (13.1/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 93.90% White, 0.69% African American, 0.64% Native American, 0.25% Asian, 0.10% Pacific Islander, 3.49% from other races, and 0.93% from two or more races. In the township the population was spread out, with 22.5% under the age of 18, 6.1% from 18 to 24, 21.5% from 25 to 44, 28.0% from 45 to 64, and 21.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 45 years. For every 100 females, there were 97.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.9 males.
