History

The village was established in 1996 and originally called Leisang Khonomphai or L. Khonomphai. It was recognised in 2002. Formerly in Senapati district, it became part of the newly formed Kangpokpi district in late 2016. Nearby villages were electrified in 2017. On April 27, 2018, electricity was turned on in Leisang for the first time, the culmination of the thousand-day Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana program to electrify all the remaining villages of India announced by Prime Minister
