Demographics

, Lakshmichhari upazila had 6,084 households and a population of 25,994. 6,796 (26.14%) were under 10 years of age. Lakshmichhari had an average literacy rate of 35.2%, compared to the national average of 51.8%, and a sex ratio of 942 females per 1000 males. 2,087 (8.03%) of the population lived in urban areas. The ethnic population was 20,913 (80.45%), of which Chakma were 14,680 and Marma 5,823.
