Toponymy

According to Father G. Lemoine, the term "waweia gamak" akin to the Algonquin language and means "at Round Lake". Father Joseph-Étienne Guinard consider that "waiagamak", set for "wawiagamaw" has meaning for "Round Lake". Yet its shape is triangular rather than round.
