Keilor Plains station opened on 27 January 2002, as part of the extension of the electrified network from

to Sydenham. In 1986, boom barriers were installed at the former Taylors Road level crossing, which was located at the

end of the station. In 1994, a rail-road

was provided at the level crossing. In April 2007, construction commenced on a

project, which involved lowering the road underneath the railway line. By September 2008, the level crossing was abolished and the project completed.
