Minor leagues

After spending four seasons in the Twins' organization, he was signed by the

in April 2006 and released on March 24, 2007. On March 30, 2007 Phillips signed with the Blue Jays as a Minor League free agent.

On June 25, 2010, Phillips was traded to the San Diego Padres for a player to be named later. He hit his first major league home run in a day game against the Atlanta Braves on May 30, 2011. He was designated for assignment by the Padres on August 31, 2011. He elected free agency on October 11.


Return to Toronto

On January 27, 2012, Phillips signed a minor league contract with the
