Due to his father's need to frequently travel between Hong Kong and Los Angeles for work, the family decided to sell their house in Temple City and move back to Hong Kong after a few years. During preseason training in Portugal, Lam injured his anterior cruciate ligament, necessitating a long layoff to recover. On 14 October 2020, Lam left the club after his club's withdrawal from the HKPL in the new season.
