John Graham, 4th Earl of Menteith ( – c. 1565), was a 16th-century Scottish nobleman.

Biography

John Graham had a gift of his own ward and marriage in late 1543 or 1544, following the death of his father, William Graham, 3rd Earl of Menteith. This suggests that he was under the

at the time of his father's death. He formally acquired the earldom of Menteith in 1547, which also may suggest that reached the age of majority at that time, suggesting a birth year of approximately 1529. He inherited the earldom after the death of his father, William Graham was killed in a clan fight some time in autumn 1543, but certainly by 23 January 1544; some sources state that he was killed in October 1543 by the Tutor of Appin (a member of the Stewart family), after the Stewarts and their army ate a wedding feast to which the Earl had been invited.
