He moved to the Institute of Photosensitivity, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1970, where he was promoted to associate research fellow in 1979 and to research fellow in 1986. From December 1990 to June 1991, he was a visiting scholar at the Max Planck Institute of Biophysical Chemistry in Germany. He rose to become director of the Academic Committee of Key Laboratory of Colloids and Interfaces, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1998. Jiang died in
