Jeffery Hildebrand (born 1959) is an American billionaire businessman, who is the founder, chairman, and chief executive officer (CEO) of Hilcorp Energy Company.


Education

Jeffery Hildebrand received a bachelor's degree in geology in 1981 and a master's degree in petroleum engineering in 1985, both from the University of Texas at Austin. He is also recognized as a distinguished engineering graduate of the University of Texas at Austin's Cockrell School of Engineering.


Career

Hildebrand worked for the American Energy Capital Corporation, the Dan A. Hughes Company, and Exxon Company, until he founded Hilcorp Energy Company, an oil and gas exploration and production company. He co-founded Hilcorp in 1990 and later bought out his partner for $500 million in 2003. His company has been ranked on

Hildebrand has made charitable contributions to the Houston Zoo and the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston. He was a major donor to Texas A&M's Hildebrand Equine Complex. In November 2017, HIldebrand donated $25 million to the Department of Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. In recognition, the university plans to name the department the Hildebrand Department of Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering.
