Biography
James Gamble was born in
Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania. He attended the common schools and Jersey Shore Academy. He studied law, was admitted to the bar in December 1833 and commenced practice in Jersey Shore. He served as
Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, treasurer from 1834 to 1836. He resumed the practice of law in Jersey Shore, and served as a member of the
Pennsylvania House of Representatives

Congress
Gamble was elected as a Democrat to the

Thirty-third Congresses. He served as president judge of
Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, in 1859 and 1860, and president judge of the court of common pleas of Lycoming County from 1868 to 1878. He died in
Williamsport, Pennsylvania, in 1883. Interment in Wildwood Cemetery.
